This Diva's life started off in far away land of Croatia! Wanting something better for Sarah, than the harsh realities offered there, her mother sold everything they owned, so they could move to the land of opportunity: the good old U.S. of A! At 14 years of age Sarah and her mother arrived in Portland with only fifteen dollars.
While the first six months were hard, Sarah's mother was determined to make a better life, for them. After diligently pursuing her education, she received a scholarship, to a Seattle University, where they moved to. In the meantime, Sarah continued to pursue a fascination with muscle, that she had acquired at an early age. A VERY early age. Can you believe that at only 10 years old, Sarah By the age was already doing pushups, sit-ups and 5lb curls with her mothers dumbells! It's true folks! Sarah also credits her high energy level and not having a car until age 22, with her level of fitness. With no car, it was biking, jogging or rollerblading, which kept her in tremendous shape.
Trading in her rollerblades for a gym membership, Sarah was ready for the next step. She took up a career in the medical field as a Medical Assistant in an ER, believing it would give her the opportunity to help people and increase her fitness expertise, by being in the presence of so many doctors. It didn't quite work out the way she had hoped. Sarah notes that she received so much awful advice from these medical professionals, that she may one day write a book about it! With the guidance of trainer trainer, Joe Marmol, Sarah was able the knowledge needed to fulfill one of her dreams, helping women with their nutrition and diet. Life in the E.R. was taking taking it's toll, though.
One fateful day, an An ex-boyfriend dragged a somewhat terrified Sarah into a Hawaiian Tropic Bikini Contest. It was there, that Sarah, gained the first of what would be many victories in this contest. Soon, she competing with 180 other girls in Hawaii at the Miss Hawaiian Tropic Nationals. This is were things really picked up as, Scott Connelly, the founder of Met-Rx, offered Sarah as a contract as a spokesmodel for the company. After appearing at various events for them, for a year and a half, Sarah, the owner of Nutri-Sport, Jacob Frank, offered her a full time position. Sarah really took her to her job, and she enjoyed doing something she loved, while at the same time, being given the opportunity to be a positive influence on people.
Next up was the Galaxy Fitness contest. Sarah won the physique round and placed 6th overall, which was an outstanding competitive debut. It was at this contest, she met famed photographer, Rob Sims who is responsible for introducing Sarah, to us, via her first appearances in MuscleMag and Oxygen. While working with Nutri-Sport, a customer worked for Next Nutrition/Designer Whey encouraged Sarah to enter a before and after contest. With a mere four weeks to prepare, Sarah lost 10% bodyfat using the products, ate right, and won the contest!
